IP law has gone too far. Unified theories of intellectual property are dangerous to technological and artistic development because they misinterpret the memetic and constrain it as if it were the physical.

PROTECT IP Act Breaks The Internet from Fight for the Future on Vimeo.

There are two bills. SOPA (H.R.3261) in the House of Representatives, and PROTECT IP (S.968) in the Senate. This is of international importance. If some version of these passes, it will cut American ad dollars out of any site anywhere in the world that is seen as infringing. And it puts power in the hands of United States private media companies to censor.

There is also concern that the infrastructure changes required to make it possible are a threat to the internet itself.
